In this webinar, you will get a comprehensive overview of how AI-based systems are revolutionizing optical inspection and 3D measurement in the SMT industry. We start with an introduction to the current role of AI in various application areas such as speech recognition, speech and image analysis.
The focus is on working out the special features of optical inspection and 3D measurement compared to general image processing systems. While conventional image processing methods often rely on interpretation, 3D measurement is about precise measurements within defined tolerances. This is where the special challenges of image processing come into play: Images can be noisy or contain irrelevant information. In these cases, AI helps to suppress image noise and extract relevant measurement data more precisely and stably.
We will also focus on 2D inspections, which still have room for interpretation. This is where the potential of AI becomes particularly apparent, as large amounts of data can be processed in a very short time. AI-supported systems create greater security and stability in evaluation through the use of process and data models. This not only relieves the burden on operators, but also allows AI to make decisions often faster and more reliably, which ultimately calls into question the role of humans in these processes.
A central point of discussion will be whether and to what extent humans must continue to take on a verification role or whether AI can take over this task completely. This question offers exciting perspectives for the future of manufacturing processes in the SMT industry, which we will discuss together.
We look forward to your participation and the discussion on how AI will have a lasting impact on the SMT industry.
